The Entergy Mississippi Power Generation Golf Tournament will return on October 15, 2026, bringing employees, sponsors, and community members together in support of Friends of Children’s Hospital.

Over the past two years, the tournament has raised more than $60,000 to help support children and families cared for at Children’s of Mississippi. This year, organizers hope to build that momentum and make an even greater impact for Mississippi’s only children’s hospital.

The tournament is coordinated by Allen Lyons, who is the plant manager at Entergy’s Vicksburg Advanced Power Station power plant. For Allen and his wife, LeeAnna, this cause is deeply personal.

Their son, Slade, was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 10 years old after experiencing persistent headaches. He underwent surgery just days later and has continued to receive care through Children’s of Mississippi since that time. Today, Slade has recently graduated high school and is doing well.

For the Lyons family, that experience created a lasting connection to the hospital and a deep appreciation for the care children and families receive there. It is also a big part of what makes this tournament so meaningful each year. What began as a fundraising event has also become a way for Entergy Mississippi Power Generation employees, sponsors, and community members to rally around a cause that touches lives in a very real way.

“Each year, this tournament reminds us just how generous and supportive our community is,” said Lyons. “We are incredibly grateful to every sponsor, player, and supporter who helps make it possible. This event means so much to my family, and it is inspiring to see so many people come together for a cause that makes a real difference for children and families across Mississippi. We are proud of what this tournament has accomplished, and we are already looking forward to making this year’s event even bigger and better.”
