Taking place on Mother’s Day weekend in Starkville, MS, this event coincides with the Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss baseball series, making it the perfect weekend for families, alumni, and fans to come together for a cause that unites us all.
The scenic racecourse starts at The Junction on Mississippi State Universityās campus and winds through Starkville’s most iconic landmarks, giving participants a unique opportunity to experience the campus and city in a way like never before.

What is the Kites and Rainbows Run?
The Kites and Rainbows Run is a family-friendly race in Starkville, MS, benefiting Friends of Childrenās Hospital in support of Mississippiās only childrenās hospital. This event brings together runners, walkers, and supporters from across the state to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Mississippiās children.
When and where is the race?
The race takes place on Saturday, May 10, starting and ending at The Junction on Mississippi State Universityās campus.
What events are included?
- 10K run
- 5K run/walk
- Aquathlon (5K run + 800-yard swim)
- Kids Fun Run (for children 13 and under)
Who can participate?
Everyone! The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels.

What time does the race start?
The race kicks off at 8:00 a.m.
Where can I park?
Parking details will be provided closer to race day. Expect designated parking areas on Mississippi State Universityās campus.
Will there be water stations along the course?
Yes, water stations will be available along the 5K and 10K routes.
Can I run with a stroller or pet?
Strollers are welcome: please start towards the end of the pack to accommodate for stroller space. Pets are not allowed.
What happens if it rains?
The race will take place rain or shine, unless severe weather poses a safety risk.
