What a wonderful day March 25 was for longtime children’s hospital supporter, David Herrin! He is the winner of the 2022 Doo Dah Day Patty Peck Honda New Car Giveaway Grand Prize-a 2022 Honda HR-V 2WD LX.

Raffle tickets could be purchased for $25 or five for $100, for a chance to take home a new set of wheels–courtesy of Patty Peck Honda in Ridgeland– and most importantly, support Mississippi’s only hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of the state’s youngest patients. This year’s giveaway raised an estimated $15,000, and Herrin, of Raleigh, Miss., was named the lucky winner.

“Congratulations to David and his family,” said Friends Executive Director Rochelle Hicks. “His winning really speaks to the heart of the giveaway, as so many people, like David, selflessly donate to Friends year after year. After all this time, we are so excited for David to finally win, and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank him for his continued support of Friends of Children’s Hospital.”

We are also grateful for the efforts and continued support of Jill Conner Browne and The Sweet Potato Queens, who raise thousands of dollars each year for our organization. 

Proceeds from the Doo Dah Day Patty Peck Honda New Car Giveaway help fund patient and family care projects, such as the Child Life program and the pediatric palliative care van, as well as capital projects, like the expansion and renovation of the emergency department, just to name a few.

“Every dollar makes a difference, and no donation is too small,” Hicks said. “These crucial funds provide a healthcare experience that fosters hope, smiles and a place where patients can be kids.”

Friends of Children’s Hospital, founded in 1989 by a group of dedicated volunteers from across the state, supports Mississippi’s only children’s hospital by driving fundraising, growing voluntarism and building awareness. Since its inception more than 30 years ago, the nonprofit organization has raised nearly $20 million to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, construct new facilities and provide vitally important services for all pediatric patients.
